Mark Tribe: Introduction to New Media Art
1. I want you to think about how you might build upon your current media practice, and use network technologies to produce a work of New Media Art. Briefly describe in narrative form the ideas and concepts of your new work and describe how a viewer would interact with it.
Things to Think About:
Consider how Mark Tribe contextualized new media art by connecting the practice to work throughout the 20th Century. Would your new work be viewed in a web browser? Would you make a video installation? Create a live art performance? Combine still and moving images with some form of interactivity? Is your work Modular? Variable? Automated? Does it use random processes? Can it be copied? Are you willing to give up control and have the viewer 'complete' the work?
Have fun with this and push yourself in a new direction as you brainstorm new ideas.
