Flash Apparently Official
In 1992, I started the Kraine Theatre Gallery, in the East Village of New York City, presenting monthly exhibitions as well as organizing evenings of experimental theatre, music, dance, film and performance art coordinated with gallery openings. These evenings were called "The Event Series."
It was during one of these "Event Series", that I presened Flash Apparently Official. I manipulated an audio sample of Walter Cronkite speaking the words "Flash apparently official, President Kennedy is dead."
Then standing with a wooden stool, a large orange cone, and a small brown paper bag, I had the audio track play from inside the cone, as well as the theatre sound system. I then slowly started breathing faster and faster until I hyperventilated.
I breathed into the bag to prevent losing consciousness, doing this cycle of actions three times. The stage then goes black and the performance ends.
