Because It’s a Very Important Question

September 20th, 2007 | censorship, protest portraits

The name Taser is an acronym for “Thomas A. Swift’s Electric Rifle”. Arizona inventor Jack Cover designed it in 1969; naming it for the science fiction teenage inventor and adventurer character Tom Swift.

PETA has obtained video footage showing that the U.S. military repeatedly shocked completely conscious pigs with Tasers.

On September 17, 2007, U.S. Senator John Kerry addressed a Constitution Day forum at the University of Florida. During the question and answer period, University police forcibly removed Andrew Meyer, a 21-year-old fourth-year undergraduate telecommunications student, from the forum, restraining him through direct force and with the help of a Taser.

How I got banned from Digg
Digg is on a campaign of widespread user and story censorship
AACS licensing authority censors Cory Doctorow’s class blog
Google & blogs issued with AACS Cease & Desist

How can we censor a number? I have the combination to your padlock, but until I open the lock, I have done nothing wrong. How can we allow other’s to limit the knowledge and sharing of a number? Have we become so complacent in our new world order, that we will allow this to continue?
